What is Le Bourget Airport?
Paris–Le Bourget Airport (IATA: LBG) is located 12 kilometres north of Paris, in the commune of Le Bourget in Seine-Saint-Denis. It is the oldest continuously operational airport in the world and, since the end of commercial operations in 1980, has been exclusively dedicated to private aviation, business jets and air shows.
Le Bourget is also the home of the Paris Air Show, the world's largest aerospace event. On a typical day, the airport handles several hundred private aircraft movements — making it the largest private aviation hub globally by traffic volume.
Arriving at Le Bourget on a Private Jet
The experience of arriving at Le Bourget differs fundamentally from a commercial terminal. There are no departure gates, no public queues, no mass passenger flows. The process is handled almost entirely through the FBO — the Fixed Base Operator.
FBO Terminals at Le Bourget
Le Bourget is served by several FBOs, each offering a private terminal experience with dedicated lounges, customs facilities, crew services and ground handling. The principal FBOs include:
- Signature Aviation — one of the largest FBO operators globally, offering premium passenger lounges, catering and concierge services
- Jet Aviation — MRO and FBO services with full ground handling
- TAG Aviation — executive terminal with VIP lounge and dedicated customs clearance
- Inflite Jet Centre — specialist in ultra-high-net-worth passenger handling
Your handling agent (typically arranged by your charter operator or aircraft management company) will confirm which FBO your aircraft will use. This information should be passed to your ground transfer provider in advance.
Customs and Immigration at Le Bourget
For Schengen arrivals, customs clearance at Le Bourget is typically handled discreetly within the FBO — there is no public immigration hall. Non-Schengen arrivals require pre-notification to the DGDDI (French customs authority), which your handling agent will manage.
The entire process — from aircraft door to vehicle — typically takes between 10 and 25 minutes, depending on your FBO and the nature of your arrival.
Getting from Le Bourget to Paris
Le Bourget is not served by metro or RER. Standard taxis are available from the airport perimeter but are not typically deployed to individual FBO terminals. The appropriate and expected solution for a private jet arrival is a pre-arranged private chauffeur.
The journey from Le Bourget to central Paris takes between 25 and 45 minutes depending on traffic and destination. Typical routes:
- Le Bourget → 8th arrondissement (Champs-Élysées, Golden Triangle): ~30 min
- Le Bourget → 1st arrondissement (Louvre, Place Vendôme): ~35 min
- Le Bourget → Rive Gauche (Saint-Germain, 7th arr.): ~40 min
Why Pre-Arrange Your Le Bourget Transfer
Unlike a commercial airport, you cannot rely on finding a taxi or opening an app when you step off the aircraft at Le Bourget. The FBO environment is secured; vehicles not pre-cleared by the handling agent are not admitted airside or to the FBO entrance.
A professional ground transfer provider will coordinate with your FBO directly, confirming the aircraft registration, estimated arrival time and the name of the passenger. Your driver will be inside — or immediately outside — the FBO when you clear customs.
